Johannes Langkamp (1985) is a visual artist based in Rotterdam, originally from Germany. He studied Fine Arts at the academy of Art and Industry (AKI - ArtEZ) in Enschede, including a semester abroad in London at the Wimbledon College of Arts.
Langkamp's work is characterized by a sense of playful wonder, manifested in his exploration of the interplay between process and outcome. Making these research processes visible through various mediums, including kinetic models, videos, photographic techniques and spatial installations. His experiments with material, situations and displays seek ways to question our viewing behavior and thus broaden our perspective on reality itself. His processes and results equally showcase a creator with the playful gaze of an explorer and examines the interaction between his own field of view and the viewer's experience.
Solo exhibitions of Langkamp's work have been featured at venues such as museum Boijmans van Beuningen (Rotterdam, NL), V2_Lab for the Unstable (Rotterdam, NL), Museum Kurhaus (Kleve, DE), Kunstenlab (Deventer, NL) and STUK (Leuven, BE). His contributions are held in esteemed collections including the museum Voorlinden Collection (Wassenaar, NL), Lakeside Foundation (Rotterdam, NL), Sofacq gallery (Merelbeke, BE), Collectie de Groen (Arnhem, NL) and various private collections.
